Weekly Affirmation – Courageous

I believe positive affirmations are SO valuable to a peaceful life. For years I was taught that life & death were in the power of my tongue. Meaning, my words have power & I need to be careful how I use them. Intentional.

Something else I was taught? to hide scripture in my heart. The reason I was given? Because what comes out of your mouth can be found in your heart.

Although these teachings are popular among Christian communities, I believe that they are also concepts embraced by many other religions & people groups. Affirmations are definitely nestled under this umbrella. I wrote a little bit about the positive effects affirmations bring, in my post titled Affirmative. What I didn’t speak to in that post was the power of a daily positive affirmation.

An affirmation is a phrase/statement/scripture/truth that you say out loud to yourself at least once every morning. These intentional words are meant to assist in retraining your brain. We often find it easy to spew hatred at ourselves from within. Having a daily affirmation essentially puts a pipe of positivity down into your heart, so that the words you speak become laced naturally with life-giving, hope-filled, brave, determined, & encouraging everyday vocabulary.

Putting this all together, I realized just how passionate I felt about posting something positive to carry with you throughout the week. A Weekly Affirmation!

Mondays suck. I’ve tried to cover them in cotton candy & rainbows. It worked temporarily, but eventually, the cotton candy dissolved & the rainbows disappeared & there I was left with a crappy Monday, yet again. Now you may say, I thought this post was about positivity & now that you are getting down to it you’re opening with, Mondays suck? I’m not sure that’s what you were going for Sarah. & you’re totally right. I want to turn Mondays around!

My hope is this: I post a phrase that resonates with you. In response, you will take this phrase & say it out loud every morning, maybe twice on Mondays 😉 By doing this, you will be starting your week off purposefully, focusing on the positive.

I think that if you are sincere in trying to focus on positivity & change your mindset that you will quickly find the following to be true. Our peace should not be dependent on our circumstances. This is our life. We get to decide how to approach each day & everything it will bring to us.

We breathe in. We breathe out. We remind ourselves that we are capable. That we have resources available to us so that we can succeed.

I have a handful of affirmations to start us off with. I’m hoping you Lovelies will help me add to the list! So be sure to comment below & let me know what you think!

This week’s affirmation:

I am courageous | I am willing to act in spite of fear

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong & courageous! Do not be afraid & do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Fear is lurking around every corner. I say lurking because fear is a sneaky son of a bitch. It lures its captives into its web without them even knowing. Putting fear goggles on them without them even noticing. But today…I say to fear…I am courageous! I am willing to act, to keep moving, to step out of my comfort zone, to go for it, despite you!

I hope this is the beginning of something really great for us all as we keep moving through the week together, friends!

Comment below – Would you prefer these weekly affirmations posted Sunday nights or Monday mornings? What are some of your favorite affirmations that I can possibly add to the list?

I hope to hear from you!

Namesste,

Sarah
