Weekly Affirmation – Calm & Mindful

Life has been overwhelming me lately.

If I had my crap together, I’d be a few weeks or even months ahead with my posts. I would do this so that when life happens I wouldn’t ghost my readers. But alas, here I am writing a post at 1:00pm on a day where I normally would have already posted at 5:00am. Not to mention that I also, completely skipped last week’s posts on Wednesday AND Saturday.

Some of you may read that & not think it’s a big deal. You might even tell me to be nicer to myself, relax, loosen up a little on my expectations. I agree. That’s why I didn’t stay up until 3:00am on Tuesday night finishing my post. It’s also why I spent a few days at the end of the week with no agenda.

You readers envying my ability to do this, I’m sorry. I feel your pain. But I also will say that taking the time, is nice to be able to do. But inevitably Monday morning rolls around & you feel maybe a tiny bit more rested, but have nothing to show for your rest.

Was I nicer to my family? No. This morning, am I magically happier? Nope.

The dishes piled up. The laundry piled up. The whole house needs vacuuming & dusting. Grocery shopping needs to be done. & so yes, I rested. But this morning I have volunteer work, blogging work, & house work all in my face, threatening my peace & causing me to really struggle with snapping at everyone in my path.

Moral of the story?

Take care of yourself as best as you can.

Figure out how you can best set yourself for success.

Care about what others are going through, even when you feel like you’re drowning.

Use God, prayer, scripture, worship, & affirmations to help you through. Here is this week’s affirmation to help:

I am calm | I am mindful

A calm, cool spirit keeps the peace. Proverbs 15:18b

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:4

Even when everything is irritating.

Even when your boss is a jerk.

Even when you haven’t seen eye to eye with your husband in weeks.

Even when your hormones are raging in the worst way.

Even when the laundry & dishes are piled up high.

Even when your kids aren’t listening.

Even when you feel like you are messing up everything you touch.

Even when

Still choose to be calm – take an extra minute to be intentional with how you handle the source of your frustration.

Still choose to be mindful of others – step outside of all that is smacking you in the face emotionally & intentionally love others well.

I hope that you choose to rock this week, whatever comes your way. That you keep your cool & let’s be honest, that I keep mine. Let’s also open our eyes & see those around us that we claim to care about. Let’s ask ourselves how can we love them well this week?

Let’s do whatever that is, as we keep moving forward, together.
